Twelve Ideas for Scotland in a Progressive Europe
Our final guest post of the year comes from Leonard Kral, and offers up a series of points for discussion on how Scotland can be a progressive voice in Europe and what we can do here to make that voice more effective.

Our final guest post of the year comes from Leonard Kral, a European citizen who lives between Germany and Italy and has been watching Scotland’s democracy with some enthusiasm. He has a deep interest in civic engagement and to that end has developed twelve ideas designed to strengthen modern democracies like Scotland’s and those found in Europe with the aim of fostering more multi-national cohesion.
We offer up his document for the purposes of spreading interesting ideas and for discussion. If you have any comments on any of the points - both where you’d like to see Scotland adopt them or where you might think it difficult for us to do so - please get in touch and we’ll be happy to pass them on.
“O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae mony a blunder free us,
An’ foolish notion:
What airs in dress an’ gait wad lea’e us,
An’ ev’n devotion!”
